Wildwood Environmental LLC, a woman-owned environmental consulting firm based in Portland, OR, is on the hunt for a full-time Environmental Specialist to join our team. Our focus is on environmental permitting, stormwater compliance, and construction oversight for various projects spanning the picturesque states of Oregon and Washington.

Your Role

As our Environmental Specialist, you'll have the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the field, making a real difference in environmental compliance oversight for ongoing and upcoming construction projects. You'll work alongside the principal/owner of Wildwood Environmental as well as other environmental specialists and be responsible for:

  • Conducting engaging environmental field inspections, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Proactively identifying and addressing issues and concerns prior to construction activities.

  • Verifying the proper implementation of mitigation measures.

  • Verifying flagging of wetland boundaries, cultural, and sensitive resource areas.

  • Collaborating with construction personnel on environmental requirements.

  • Participating in construction meetings.

  • Evaluating and contributing to restoration activities.

  • Additional tasks as needed, fostering your professional growth!

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in environmental science, biological resources, forestry, or equivalent.

  • Willingness to travel throughout Oregon and Washington, including the potential for full-time work on out-of-town projects  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to walk/hike for up to 10 hours daily, navigating varying terrains and weather conditions.

  • Valid U.S. driver's license with a commendable driving record.

  • An openness to weekend work as needed based on project schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in environmental inspection services or performing environmental, biological, or forestry surveys and monitoring.

  • Erosion and sediment control inspection certification (e.g., CESCL, CESSWI); however, we will help you obtain any needed certifications.

  • Previous experience on large commercial or linear utility construction projects.
